3 Fun Homemade Snowman Pizza Ideas

It’s winter, and the excitement, anticipation, and gifts of the holidays are over. The New Year is here, and it’s still the dark days of winter. January is one of those months that seems to drag on with the cold and the snow.

We live up in Minnesota, where the snow lasts throughout the winter, and sometimes it’s just too cold to go outside and fire up the pizza oven. So to keep ourselves entertained, we look for silly projects, and one silly project is to make a homemade snowman pizza.

We love making regular homemade pizza, but sometimes you need to do something a little light-hearted and fun, so we make homemade snowman pizza.

What is a Homemade Snowman Pizza?

A snowman pizza is simply a pizza made to look like a snowman. There are a few ways to make a snowman pizza, and we will share our favorite three ways to make a delightful homemade snowman pizza.

Why Make a Snowman Pizza?

The real question here is, why not make a snowman pizza? It’s fun and can bring a smile to the faces of your friends and family during the bleak winter months. And your kids will especially love it.

Because it’s cute and fun. And, my friends, winter is long up here in Minnesota, and we have to find ways to make ourselves laugh.

3 Ways to Make a Snowman Pizza

A traditional snowman is made of three snowballs the biggest one at the bottom, then the medium size, then the small one for the head. He wears a black top hat and a scarf. His face is made with two black stones and a carrot for the mouth.

But that’s the traditional snowman. You can literally make your snowman pizza any way you like!

We have three ways to make a snowman pizza that will give your guests a giggle. These ideas are great for keeping bored kids busy when it’s just too darn cold to go outside.

Large Snowman Pizza

A large snowman pizza is basically putting two doughs together. We know what you’re thinking shouldn’t it be three? Yes, but we don’t have a pan that big to make a large three-part snowman pizza.

If you have an extra large pizza pan, then three works just fine. Of course, we normally use our pizza stone, but since a snowman pizza is an odd shape, it doesn’t fit on the pizza stone either.

Make your favorite homemade pizza dough, and instead of dividing it into two equal parts, divide it with one dough ball bigger than the other. Roll both doughs out and connect them. The best way to connect them is to pinch them together.

Then spread on olive oil and par-bake for three to five minutes at 450ºF. Next, take it out and add sauce, cheese, and toppings and bake for another 8-10 minutes.

Mini Snowman Pizzas

Mini Snowman pizzas are fun for kids to decorate, and of course, they love having their very own snowman pizza. However, the smaller pizzas don’t keep their shape that well, so don’t be surprised if when the cheese melts, it will distort the features.

On the smaller snowman pizza, use three small doughs and pinch them together. When they are par-baked, they will stick together better.

Snowman Pizza Cheeseball

So this is not technically a pizza, but it is pizza themed; it’s a snowman pizza cheeseball. If you are not familiar with this novel appetizer, a cheese ball is unsurprisingly a ball of cheese. It is made with a few different types of cheese and other goodies and rolled in chopped nuts.

Cheeseballs are usually served with different crackers and a little knife to spread the cheese. They are often served next to a tasty charcuterie board.

Making a snowman cheeseball is a great appetizer when you don’t want to make pizza but need a good winter appetizer when entertaining friends and family.

To make a snowman pizza cheeseball, you will need the following:

Start chopping the red pepper and mincing the garlic. Then sauté in a bit of olive oil and set aside. Next, mix the cream cheese in a bowl with the grated mozzarella and chopped pepperoni. Add in the garlic and red pepper and mix. Put in the refrigerator for an hour or two until it is firm and you can form two or three balls.

Traditionally, a cheeseball is covered in nuts. The crunchy nuts give a nice contrast to the creamy inside. But if you prefer your cheeseball snowman to be white, skip this part and instead roll in grated Parmesan. (Please don’t waste your Parmesano Reggiano; instead, use the cheap Parmesan powder since it’s just for color.)

Roll each ball in the chopped nuts and place and decorate the face. Give that snowman a top hat and cane, and surround him with your favorite crackers for a fun winter appetizer.
